Every so often the High School DxD franchise (mainly) eschews its emphasis on buff service in favor of an all out conflict episode. When it does - when it really plays with conflict scenes as conflicts and not excuses to get clothing - it can acquire some quite dramatic effects. This can be certainly one of the times. Actually, this episode would stand up fairly nicely even if judged against an activity show that is true.
